Al,
Katie and Meagan really enjoy the tumbling class that they are in and both feel that they have improved. It says a lot that they are trusting the "spotters" enough to attempt their fulls. They love that's it's a good workout and they aren't wasting their time.

Mr Al , Kim & Coaches,
I believe Mandy has learned more in the tumbling / conditioning classes the past 5 weeks, then she has in the 5 months of academy classes. I believe this has to do with the fact that she was alone in the academy classes, and she takes tumbling classes now with several other girls. Mandy want's to do the things the other girls are doing, and she gives all 35 pounds of her body to do it!! Her dream is to be a flyer (or as she calls it a spinning girl). Of course she didn't understand why she was not able to be on the Summer Performing Team and we didn't tell her she's not good enough, so we told her she's not old enough. I truly believe Peanut will make you all proud in the upcoming cheer season, as a tiny cheerleader :) Thank you for helping my little girl be a little girl again. The death of her sister in 2006 was heartbreaking, but being a member of WCA makes her feel like she has LOTS of sisters!
Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; but remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for.

I love you guys and I am glad for your email. There hasn't been a doubt in my families mind. We know that WCA will continue to grow and better the kids. Our coaching staff that we currently have is definitely capable to leading our kids to more national championships. Thank you to both of you for all you do! We are glad we are part of your family. We are excited to be back at cheer. The girls have been going crazy without it!
Thanks again,
Michele

Thank you to everyone:
Al and Kim, all the coaches (past and present), especially Ms. P, and Spencer, all the competitors, especially the senior teams (and Mike Macabee), and all of you parents!
Saturday was Megan's final competition with WCA. After a week of extra practicing and extra filming with Spencer and Mike and her all-girl stund group, she had abused her weak ankle to the point of no return. But the real point of her not leaving WCA after nationals and going to her BSU tryout in person was her commitment to the teams who had remained supportive of her. Not being there in person for the tryout might have cost her a spot on the team, but it was what she learned at WCA that really mattered.
I'm not saying that Meg lacked a sense of responsibility or commitment, because that's not true. She just never had the self-confidence that her involvement and follow-through really mattered. You all made it matter. I'm writing this because even though I personally do not know most of you, saying thanks in even this small way is critically important. I am grateful to all of you for your roles in Megan's life--in our lives. You--and WCA--will remain in my prayers.
Meg has told me that many of you were surprised to learn she HAS a mother who lives with her. As your children grow through high school, there will be times when it's clear they don't want you involved. Megan wanted and needed my support, but she also needed to feel she was doing the work on her own. So--I came to all the competitions that did not conflict with my own work obligations, and I tried not to talk about her problems and victories. I just let her be who she is--whatever that meant on any given day. I didn't sacrifice my own interest, I just let her have this direction for her own.
These teams, and all of you parents and coaches, have had a lot to deal with in the past two years with all the ups and downs of the growth of the club, the new venue, the wierd things with scheduling, etc., and I hope the payback for you has been as rewarding as for me. I think Mark feels the same way, although I would no sooner speak for him than for Megan. I can tell you this: the responsibility imposed on Megan as a senior team member (whether she always lived up to it or not), the invitation and accommodation to teach her new skills, for her to help teach others, and the reward for hard work have helped her build the confidence and drive to work through two years at TCC and the strength and competency to go on to a university. It has also steered her toward her college major in kinesiology and bio-mechanics.
All those things Mr. Al has always said he wants to build in these young people: Character, Humility, Enthusiasm, Excellence and Respect, have truly grown in my daughter. We know she would NOT be the person she is today without this wonderful experience. Even her older brother has worked hard to help Megan with the final production of her audition video and her college applictions--the obnoxious little sister exists no more in his mind, either. I hope that when you think about those moments that Megan--or any of your own children--may have let you down, you remember they are just moments. Today, in the after-glow of the final competition, it feels like graduation. That's WHY I am grateful that Mr. Al and Ms. Kim will continue as owners of WCA. I hope you NEVER feel it's a thankless task, because this success can be the foundation for so many kids who may struggle in other areas of their lives.
Again. Thank you.

Al and Kim~
I just wanted to share a couple of stories with you guys to let you know how people think of WCA.
I was at the atm machine during the last competition, when a man approached me and stated. He always looks forward to watching the WCA teams compete, the routines are always so awesome. He stated if it was at all possible to send his daughter to WCA he would because you guys are so GREAT!!! He was from one of the oregon teams, and his daughter stated they could just move to Washington. He stated that we are so lucky to be able to be a part of WCA, and I stated Yes, It has been absolutely amazing, that we are just a big family.... He likes how we cheer for the other teams, even the ones that we compete against...... He said WCA is just AWESOME!!!!!
and on saturday during the preliminaries, an older gentleman was seated behind me and was amazed at the routines. He tapped me on the shoulder and asked Wow, where are you guys from? I c an't believe how GREAT your teams are. I looked back and replied Steilacoom Washington BABY!!!! GO CATS!!!! So any way I just wanted to share those with you guys to let you know you guys have done a great job!!!! and you two should be very proud of the empire you guys built..... It was just so great to hear compliments from other teams!!!! Thanks for all you guys do!!!! Thanks for allowing my family to be apart of the WCA family!!!!
Faith :-)

Subject: Hey wca!

Hey Everyone!
Its Dani Gosch. I miss everyone and wca sooo much! Just thought I needed to check up on everyone knowing who the owner is and all. lol just kidding! I visit the site all the time to see if there are any new updates, can't wait to see pics of everyone in the new uniforms.
Heard there has been quite a few big changes..but sounds like all is going very well.
I'm not cheering right now..not sure if i will really. I'm hoping to start some tumbling classes soon and if those go well maybe try out just for high school cheer next year (the big senior year haha). Yes Al i will make it to be a senior next year! lol
Its such a big change not having cheer though. I miss it a lot. Especially wca...I'd defiantly recommend wca cheer to anyone i ever met. It was my funnest times in Washington I never felt to close to people at school but wow wca made such a difference i always felt good after going to cheer practice and made some of the greatest friends. Still talking to the Sk girls miss them soo much!! I realized a couple days ago after talking to some football player he was saying how he was sore from practice and it made me think how i actually miss being sore..well kind of. Being sore after cheer practice made u have a sense of accomplishment. When we would come home sore we knew it was because we worked hard and were getting stuff done. Also that we were staying in shape! In the end all the practices are worth it, it always seem to show how hard we worked at competition. I recommend having like te am sleep overs or just get togethers, cause wow Sk was soo close and if we would've hung out more outside of just practice i cant imagine the bonds we would've made. You'll have to tell all the girls I said hey and miss them.
I'm enjoying Georgia. Its really nice here, nice town..first couple weeks here were sooo hot it was horrible and back to humid weather! Ooohh gosh no more good hair days! haha
Tell Coach P i said Hi too. Wish every1 luck for me even tho I'm sure u guys dont need it! If your ever heading over to the East cost for competition let me know I'd LOVE to go watch.
Good luck!

I just want to say THANK YOU! I had some concerns about coming to WCA because my daughter was on a different team last year. Mr. Al spent a lot of time on the phone assuring me that the WCA cheerleaders would be kind and welcoming and he was right! Although we are brand new to WCA, our experience compared to the past team is night and day and we are beyond pleased. I really appreciate all of the detailed information that we receive. Most of all, Simone is having fun and that makes me one happy mom! |
